Seasteaders Extraordinare

Creed O'Hanlon sent me these images a few weeks ago. They're lovely. Imagine a planet where there are always placid seas, where the are no pirates (at least no real ones), a planet where peace and harmony reign serene. Now imagine our planet, with cyclones, tsunami, rogue waves, and just plain rogues. Imagine your small town, your neighborhood, your block. This is not a boat. It's a bowl. I imagine Mr. O'Hanlon could hardly contain his laughter as he sent me this. Nor his misgivings if he felt this was a real proposal.

No- I'm sure it's fine. I'm sure they are way ahead of us and they have REALLY BIG pumps! And open-ocean swell reduction technology that we can't even imagine!

Perhaps he should call it New New Orleans.

umm, i don't think mike realises: these are not something o'hanlon proposes, rather something he opposes somewhat vehemently!

Looks like a pretty traditional vessel to me - sort of a Coracle on steroids

Only slightly less practical than FREEDOM SHIP.

Okay, now imagine large articulated rafts with flexible surfaces harnessing wave energy for power and/or locomotion while also providing large horizontal surfaces for solar gain (electricity or solar distillery/hydroponics) then you're getting somewhere, maybe not somewhere pleasant to think about...
